A COMMUNITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT EFFORT
BRIDGING THE GAP
A program devoted to building relationships with family, community providers, and law enforcement that support recovery from past and ongoing trauma, which disproportionately impacts already vulnerable groups, i.e., those with low income, mental health challenges, and people of color.
Trust between law enforcement and the public is essential. Communities rely on police and prosecutors to protect them from crime and injustice. They then rely on community support and cooperation to ensure safety. But in too many neighborhoods across the country, this vital relationship is strained. Often, this has been due to negative past experiences with law enforcement – whether personal or from family and friends interactions, seen or heard, these traumatic experiences have placed law enforcement in a bad light.
